Ever wondered what dual exhaust with no X or H pipe and with an exhaust leak sounds like? Here’s your answer, even if you didn’t ask the question. I have GOT to find that leak.

I also discovered that the rust in the area in front of the rear tires on both sides is worse than I thought. I might have to replace both quarter panels and I have neither the talent nor the tools to do so. Sigh.

What do the underseat pans and rear frame rails look like? Those are the real nasty 2nd gen areas.

F(e2O3)-body.

Pretty! Yeah, I’m going to have to go through and make sure all of the header bolts are still properly tightened, but I suspect it’s under the car where the collectors bolt to the exhaust pipes. At least the tailpipes don’t bang against the body anymore!

Those are solid. I had to put in some small patches on the floorpan but otherwise the structure is solid. Even the notorious area behind the rear wheels where the body curves under and gets sandblasted by debris coming off the tires isn’t bad, and the rockers are good too.

Yep, it’s cosmetic but it’s bad. Like put your fist in the hole bad.

Just inner/outer wheelhouse or is the quarter itself rotted?

You might be able to cut/patch/undercoat and have a pretty invisible repair.

Yeah Rustang or Dustang works a helluva lot better

It’s the outer wheel well with the worst part being the lower between the door jam and the wheel opening but there is rust in spots around the rest of the lip. The sail panel seems ok as there isn’t any bubbling happening up there. Basically, the area below the line. The underlying structure seems ok. It’s like it was parked with something up against it that caused it to rot. Tall weeds or something, that held in moisture.

That’s always a good thing! The Torino still has a little cosmetic things that need done but she is always ready to go when I turn the key

As much as I bitch about my Camaro when I went out to start it for the first time since last November it only took a second of cranking and then it fired up. The engine is solid.

350 in it?

Yeah, just your run of the mill 350. There’s nothing special about it, but it’s a solid runner. With all of the other work that I’ve had to do, and still need to do, the engine is at the bottom of the list for attention. It probably does do a slightly better job than the 307 2bbl that the car was born with could do though.

I still got the 351CJ in my Gran Torino running like a dream
